Team Lembeh: Rick Francis

Rick Francis

How long have you been taking underwater images?
I started shooting a Nikonos III with film in 1978, but didn’t shoot for many years until digital technology made it very attractive.

What camera are you using?

Nikon D850, Nikon 8-15mm fisheye, Nikon 105mm Macro, Sigma 20mm f1.4 ART lens, Tamron SP AF 1.4x teleconverter with Sigma 20mm, LSD Retra Snoot,
Ikelite housing, 8” dome, flat port, Ikelite D160 strobes (2) and SubSee +10 magnifier.
Which critter do you want to capture most?
I suppose it would be any of the octopuses found there!

What techniques do you hope to improve on during the event?
Using a snoot to highlight macro subjects

Which of the three categories are you most excited about shooting (Nudibranch, invertebrates/fish, wide angle) and why?
I’m very excited about nudibranchs and invertebrates with a snoot to make striking images with dimension.

Have you been to Lembeh or Gulen before? If so, what advice can you offer your fellow team members?
I have never been there
